Custom Hardware and Electronic Design:
Realtime designs and manufactures electronic assemblies for private clients and embedded system OEM's. We offer a turnkey solution to creating an electronic assembly with Design For Manufacturing (DFM) in mind. From a customer or Realtime generated specification, we design and manufacture electronic assemblies to provide finished assemblies and cable sets in pilot production quantities. For the regulated industries, we can develop, modify or manage the full set of electronics specification that are necessary for all aspects of the project, including single point failure analysis, shock, vibration, environmental conditions, power management, heat dissipation, cabling, test points, etc. An FMEA and other safety analysis is typically conducted standalone and as part of the overall system architecture. These specifications are used to design the actual electronic device(s). For packaging, our electrical design members work closely with the mechanical design team to find the right balance on space, height, weight, power, mounting, and connector considerations. A test specification details all test criteria and test procedures used to evaluate the completed electronic assembly or device, including any firmware device drivers, hardware abstraction layer, programming, or processor-specific support software that may be needed. This test specification is generated, reviewed, and executed prior to the manufacturing process. Listed below is a brief description of our five (5) Core Hardware Services: Custom Design: By far the most common request is for custom design services resulting in a turnkey solution to creating an electronic assembly that can be manufactured by another “third-party” entity. From a customer specification or block diagram, we can design and manufacture initial quantities of full electronic assemblies. In the absence of an initial specification, Realtime will analyze the problem space and propose alternative solutions (see Prototype Design).
Prototype Design: Prototyping offers our customers a shortened proof of concept phase on new electronic designs without becoming encumbered in form, fit, and function limitations. Electronic assemblies can typically be manufactured and delivered in a matter of a couple weeks, if required.
Second Source Design: A second source design offers our customers the security of a quality second supplier. By establishing a second source, our customers can gain larger production capacity, competitive pricing, and insurance against single source product flow disruptions.
Retrofit and Cost Reduction: Many products in the regulated industries have long production runs which inevitably lead to obsolescence challenges. Retrofit design services offer our customers the latest technology and cost reduction measures, applied to existing products. Just like a Custom Design, a retrofit design is created from an established set of function parameters. This process allows the customer to upgrade the performance, and even enhance the feature set, of an existing product with minimal risk or impact on production methods.
Warranty, Service, and Repair We guarantee the quality of our work. Realtime has always had a liberal replacement policy when it comes to our products. If a unit fails within the first year of operation for any reason other than catastrophic events, we will exchange the unit for the cost of shipping only. We are also highly capable at repairing legacy designs that did not originate at Realtime. |
